Welcome to getabookcoach.com! These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website operated by Margaret McNellis ("we," "us," or "our") and apply to all visitors, users, and clients who access or purchase our services.

By accessing our website or purchasing a coaching package, blueprint, or session, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Services Provided

Margaret McNellis offers professional book coaching, editorial consulting, narrative strategy, and accountability services ("Services"). Detailed descriptions of current offerings, deliverables, and timelines are provided on our service pages or within client agreements.

2. Payment Terms & Rates

  • Pricing: Rates for Services are clearly stated on our website or provided in custom project proposals. Prices are subject to change. Promotional or "Summer Rate" pricing is valid only through the advertised expiration date.

  • Invoicing & Payment: Payment is required prior to the commencement of any package strategy call, review session, or coaching milestone. Invoices are issued through Squarespace and must be paid using accepted credit/debit card methods.

  • Recurring Subscriptions: Ongoing coaching packages billed monthly will auto-renew on the same calendar day of each month unless canceled in writing at least 3 business days prior to the invoicing due date.

3. Cancellations, Refunds, & Rescheduling

  • Narrative Rebellion Lab Policy: Due to the bespoke nature of book coaching, all sales are generally final once work has commenced. However, life happens. If you experience an emergency, illness, or other unplanned mitigating circumstance, please reach out via our 1:1 Slack chat so we can discuss options, including a potential pro-rata refund.

  • Discovery & Strategy Session Rescheduling: Clients may reschedule a scheduled 1:1 Zoom strategy call up to 24 hours in advance using the booking link provided. Missed sessions without 24 hours’ notice ("no-shows") are non-refundable and forfeit that session time. Discovery sessions can be rescheduled up to 2 hours in advance.

  • Weekly Submissions: The Narrative Rebellion Lab includes up to ~500 words of snippet review per week. Unused word counts do not roll over to subsequent weeks. Submissions received outside of agreed operating windows will be reviewed during the next scheduled feedback window.

4. Intellectual Property Rights

  • Your Work: You retain 100% of the copyright, intellectual property, and ownership rights to your manuscripts, story ideas, characters, and original writing submitted for review. We claim zero ownership over your creative material.

  • Our Frameworks & Materials: All original materials provided by us—including worksheets, mini-blueprints, proprietary guides, recorded session videos, and editorial frameworks—are protected by copyright. They are provided solely for your personal, non-commercial use as a client and may not be resold, republished, or distributed to third parties.

5. Scope of Services & Guarantees

  • No Publishing Guarantee: Book coaching provides professional guidance, developmental strategy, and feedback to strengthen your writing. We do not guarantee agent representation, traditional publishing contracts, self-publishing financial success, or specific sales outcomes.

  • Professional Boundaries: Editorial coaching is professional consulting for creative writing. It is not mental health counseling, financial advice, or legal counsel.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Margaret McNellis shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of our website, participation in coaching, or reliance on editorial feedback.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
